Frequently Asked Questions

Are there Standard sizes?

No. We don’t need to produce standard sizes as every situation is different.

The beauty of computer CAD technology is that we can easily scale, add, delete elements to produce something unique for every situation.

Are there Standard designs?

Yes. The Outside has a massive library of designs that we have created that can be tailored to your situation. Also we can take elements from different designs and simply compile a unique design for your project.

What if we want something different? We thrive on creating customised solutions. We have a structured process to create something unique and personal, and behind that a team of talent, from artists, industrial designers, project management and fabrication to deliver the solution.

What materials do you use?

Most of our products are produced in either Cor-Ten Steel, a naturally weathering steel that doesn’t require painting, or, Powder Coated Aluminium. For more information on these two core materials, take a look at our outdoor design materials page.

So what is the process?

Consultation: Come and see us with your ideas or have a look at work examples or we will visit you for a consultation and site measure. Email your ideas or requirements.

Costing: We will provide a cost at this point.

Design: We can produce a computer Render of what the solution will look like in your setting. Communication and clarity are massively important to us. It’s not a complicated process. We have to computer draw all our designs for production, so we are happy to share drawings with you to communicate exactly what you are receiving. We will also provide relevant drawings and documentation about your project.

Fabrication: Upon your confirmation and approval this kicks into action.

Installation: We can assist or you may choose to DIY or use your own installer.

Customer Service: We pride ourselves on keeping you informed through every step of the process. We appreciate that often your project will be a juggling act of organising suppliers. We want to make sure that our piece of the puzzle is the easiest piece to put in place. We will be calling you frequently throughout the project to let you know where things are at, no matter if it is a small or large job.

Follow up: We love what we do and take huge pride in our work. We want your feedback about how the solution worked, and your photos of something that is going to add beauty to your home.

“It must be quite a design process to get them looking so nice, and to ensure it all works together for laser cutting”
